Building a Unified Careers Experience Across a Growing Portfolio of Brands

TopBuild has built an impressive portfolio of brands across installation and specialty distribution, but for a candidate trying to understand who TopBuild is and where they might fit, the picture was fragmented. Each brand had its own presence, its own messaging, and its own application process. There was no single place to see the full picture.

This created friction during the candidates’ journey. Prospective employees had to visit multiple sites to compare roles, piece together a sense of the culture, and navigate separate application flows. For a company of TopBuild's scale - 13,000+ employees across 350+ North American locations - that kind of fragmentation was not sustainable. 

The deeper problem was one of perception. TopBuild's main website is investor-focused by design. It does its job well - but it doesn't tell the human story. Candidates weren't getting a window into what it's actually like to work at TopBuild, grow a career there, or be part of something bigger than a single brand or job title.

SOLUTION

Fratzke partnered with TopBuild to design and develop a centralized careers microsite built around one core idea: make the hiring experience feel easier, more connected, and more reflective of the people behind the brand.

The new platform consolidated job opportunities from multiple brands into a single searchable experience powered by Workday integrations. Inspired by best-in-class employer brand experiences, the site balanced functionality with storytelling. Candidates could quickly search and filter opportunities across locations, brands, and job categories while also getting a better sense of the company’s culture and employee experience through videos, testimonials, and visual storytelling.
